Hillcrest Farms Restoration stands as a testament to Alberta’s rich agricultural history. Once a thriving hub of rural life, the historic barn at Hillcrest has weathered generations of change. Now, through Hi-Tower’s dedicated restoration efforts, this landmark is being carefully preserved to ensure its legacy continues for years to come.
This project is more than just a renovation—it’s a commitment to protecting the stories, architecture, and cultural heritage that have shaped Alberta’s farming landscape. In 1902, Frederick Bokenfohr and his family left Germany and first settled in Nebraska. Drawn by a relative’s tales of opportunity, they headed north to Alberta, eventually claiming a farm just east of Morinville. For over a century, the land has remained in the family, marking a significant chapter in the province’s agricultural history.
The Bokenfohr family was formally recognized as a 100-Year Farm Family on December 14, 2024, during a private event at Free Spirit Ranch. Sturgeon County Division 4 Councillor Neil Comeau and Mayor Alanna Hnatiw presented a commemorative plaque to Joe and Aaron Bokenfohr in honor of their family’s farming legacy.
At Hi-Tower, we believe in sustainable restoration—blending traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques to maintain the barn’s historic integrity while reinforcing it for the future. Contact us for more info.
